SNUG Europe 2006
Trip Report

The Fifteenth Annual SNUG Europe welcomed over 360 users to its annual conference held on May 4-5, 2006, at the Kempinski Hotel in Munich, Germany. Attendees representing 90 companies and 20 countries throughout Europe and the world, viewed two full days of technical sessions.

This year’s event featured contributions from more than 70 authors, presenters and panel participants and included 45 user presentations, 12 tutorials and 5 panels. For a third year, SNUG featured a Saber track, targeting Synopsys users in the automotive, aerospace, power and IC industries.

Aart de Geus, Chairman of the Board & CEO, Synopsys, Inc. chated with attendees following his keynote speech on Friday morning.

New this year was the Managers’ Track, featuring presentations from industry leaders such as AMD, ARM and NVIDIA, as well as a presentation from Synopsys. This track, attended by a standing-room only crowd, attracted senior engineering and program managers.

Always popular with attendees, Aart de Geus, Synopsys Chairman of the Board and CEO, delivered the keynote address, in which he provided a high-level overview of today’s most pressing design challenges, including verification (where the challenges are growing faster than Moore’s Law), IP, timing closure, signal integrity, leakage power, dynamic power, test and DFM yield and printability.

The Author’s Poster session, held on the afternoon of the second day of the conference, allowed authors and attendees to connect one-on-one in an informal, relaxed setting. This session gave users a last chance to chat about their experiences with Synopsys tools. In addition to the poster session, attendees were also given the opportunity to network, relax and unwind during a cocktail party, following the first day of SNUG, where SNUG global sponsors, ARM and TSMC, were on hand.

SNUG would not be complete without awarding the prestigious paper winners. This year’s winners include:
