The sixth Annual SNUG India drew over eight hundred attendees from more than a hundred organizations to exchange ideas, discuss problems and explore solutions with fellow design engineers and Synopsys' technical staff. The event took place on May 25 and 26, 2005, at the Leela Palace Hotel in Bangalore.
SNUG India began with Sharat Kaul from Synopsys' India welcoming attendees. |

Antun Domic, Synopsys' senior vice president and general manager of the Implementation Group, delivered the keynote address, "2005: A Big Step Forward". Quoting data from historical SNUG surveys, Antun observed that the VLSI work being done in India is at the cutting edge in terms of design challenges like feature size, speed, complexity and power.
Sunil Nanda, senior director at nVidia India, was the guest keynote speaker. He captivated the audience with his talk entitled, "Recipes for an Extraordinary VLSI Career." In addition to technical competence, Mr. Nanda believes that other key ingredients for an extraordinary VLSI career include passion, integrity and relationships.
The SNUG India agenda featured twenty user presentations, an industry panel and two R&D panels. Presenters came from Texas Instruments, Wipro Technologies, STMicroelectronics, Analog Devices, Freescale Semiconductors, Genesis Microchip, Infineon Technologies, National Semiconductors, Ittiam Systems and the Indian Institute of Technology. All sessions were well attended. The partner booths, which featured Synopsys business units and SNUG sponsors, experienced high levels of traffic as well.
Three user papers from Genesis Microchip, Freescale Semiconductors and Texas Instruments received awards as selected by judges drawn from a broad cross-section of the industry.
